We’ve all had those days when, for whatever reason, we were out too late the night before and committed a terrible crime. The worst type of crime: a crime against ourselves. We’ve all gone to bed with our makeup on, at some point. WE HAVE ALL DONE IT, EVEN MAKEUP ARTISTS.
So, before my fellow colleagues slam me, I will let you in on a little secret… It’s okay to slip up once in awhile as long as you know how to take care of your skin. Here are my top ten tips to achieve healthy, glowing skin no matter who you are.
1. Drink Water
In the words of Kendrick Lamar, “Pour Up, Drank.” Flawless skin starts from within. I don’t leave my house without my bkr. A celebrity favorite and its chic design make it easy for me to want to use it. Are you getting your 8‐10 glasses in per day?
3. Work it Out
Whether it be running up the stairs to work or going on a peaceful hike, exercising daily will help you love the skin you’re in. Exercise boosts oxygen into the skin, detoxifies, and releases endorphins.
4. Soak Up The Sun
We all need some sun! Sunlight helps produce Vitamin D, releases endorphins, treats skin diseases, and helps regulate your body temperature.
5. Use Protection
Sun protection, of course. As much as we love lying out in the sun, we often times neglect shielding our bodies from those harmful rays. Using sunscreen has been proven to help slow down the development of premature aging skin and helps prevent sunspots. I’m obsessed with the Chantecaille Ultra Sun Protection Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 45 Primer for the face. For body, I love using Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch Ultra Radiance Lotion Sunscreen .
Biotin is a B vitamin that supports skin, metabolism, digestive tract, and nerves. Omega‐3 Fatty Acids help to keep your skin moist and also regulates production of oils. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant. All of these are great supplements to help you achieve beautiful skin. I get my supplements from Herbally Grounded .
7. Clean Up Nice
Cleansing your skin is mandatory. FYI: using a makeup wipe does not count as cleansing! If you wear makeup, you need something to break down the makeup then you need to cleanse. I love using a cleansing oil to help break down makeup because it’s great for all skin types, is gentle on the skin, and removes all traces of makeup (even waterproof!) My current favorite is the Bobbi Brown Soothing Cleansing Oil . Once that’s done, I go in with my favorite cleansing tool: Clarisonic . I love using it with my Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio‐Repair Cleansing Gel. It’s a gentle facial gel cleanser that regenerates the skin using rose stem cells, rose extracts, and glycolic acid. And who doesn’t like to smell like roses?
We need to remember to do this on every inch of our bodies. It’s more than your head, shoulders, knees, and toes, people! My current favorites are The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter , Hourglass Equilibrium Serum , Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream , AMOREPACIFIC Time Response Eye Renewal Cream , and Hourglass No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil .
In order to keep your skin silky smooth, you need to exfoliate. Exfoliating your skin will remove dead skin from the skin’s surface leaving you with fresher cells. I love the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel . It’s a two‐step daily face peel which helps improve the skin’s texture, fine lines, and wrinkles and minimizes pores.
10. Sleep On It
Getting your recommended 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night will make a huge, positive impact on your skin. Your body repairs itself and produces new collagen while you’re asleep. More collagen = fewer wrinkles.
